Don't take it on faith that's correct. Most of the time, the ijjits working at those stores don't know what they have. If they don't immediately recognize the brand, they assume they don't carry it. Go look for yourself. Don't look with the shaving stuff, though. Go and look in the women's cosmetics/spa stuff aisle. That's where I found mine. There should be a section for men's stuff. I found a couple other good brands in my search for the Proraso, too. They carried about 5 different kinds of shaving cream (Caldo, Proraso, Sharps, etc.) You really owe it to yourself to put eyes on it yourself, rather than depend on the word of some guy/gal on the phone. Also, I can recommend the Sharps body wash (I found it looking for the Proraso). They've got several kinds...I got the Wood Ease "flavor" which has a nice leather/sandalwood odor. Works purty good.

Yea, so true. And the fact that its not in the shaving section probably adds to the confusion even if they look.

I just picked up a tub of the shaving soap today. Very nice!
I'm very new to all this...I haven't even gotten a straight yet, but will shortly.
I've been lurking in the dark corners absorbing what info I can, and as soon as my next pay check comes, I'm going to be buying myself some early Christmas presents

Thanks to all who have contributed to this and other sites. It's hard to imagine being able to actually learn how to shave with a straight razor without resources like this (as I personally know no one who uses one).
    God, I love the internet.

    Default Welcome senorswiss

It sure is nice to be able to make these connections isn't it. Be sure to keep us posted on how things are going with you. We like to shave vicariously through others.

I had a chance to try the Proraso today, thanx to Lynn, even though I live ~4000 miles away from the nearest Target store (a little less, but still far from Italy)

I LOVE the stuff!! I can't stopp smelling the dam thing! I am only not sure what it is, a soap or creme?? Next time I'm lathering in the tub

    Thank you, Lynn...

I thought the Proraso was made in Italy. I figured you could find it easily there.

Yep, Proraso is made in Italy, but the stores here stock all the "good quality" Gillette gels, Nivea cremes e.t.c., and only shaving soap I can find is the Turkish ARKO, in one store only. I see they have the ARCO cremes now, that is next on the must try list...

I found Proraso at my target today. I asked if they had it and the employee had no idea what I was talking about. Eventually I did find it in the cosmetics section. I will probably use it tomorrow. Hopefully my straight that I purchsed on Ebay will show up tomorrow as well. It is supposed to be shave ready but I will see I guess.

Uhmmm you may want to check out the Honing/Stropping forum. If it's an e-bay piece, chances of it being shave-ready are about the same as the chances of me becoming the new president of Iraq.
