I don’t like to use sticks. Arko is a soft soap and it can easily be pressed into a bowl.
I press this stick into a bowl and transform it into a regular soap. This way it is much more easy to use and quick to lather.

A friend of mine from another forum PIF'd me a stick of Arko. At first I was not overly fond of the smell (struck me as a cross between hand soap and a citronella candle). I forced myself to give it a go, despite the smell, and I was amazed at the lather I got from it. Interestingly, the next time I used the stick, it no longer struck me as a bug deterrent. Instead, it really just smelled to me of a clean soap.

In terms of lather quality, this stuff is penny-for-penny, the best deal in shaving soap. For less than $2 a stick, you get a high quality tallow-based soap that performs at least as well as Tabac IMHO. When I'm in a hurry, this is my soap to reach for--I can face lather incredibly quickly and get a rich, smooth shave.

It earned its way into my rotation. In fact, when I take my upcoming trip to Turkey and Italy, it's the only shave soap that will be in my travel shave kit (convenient and efficacious)...

I too press a couple of sticks in an old spice mug to use. I let them air out a little and the classical urinal puck smell changes into a nice clean soapy scent. It's hard to beat the quality of the lather and skin care you get, especially when consider the very low cost per stick. If they would put some fancy scent in it, and place it in a ceramic container, it would go for 20-30 bucks and everyone would sing it's praises.

I just recently bought 3 of them off of ebay, I thought the smell was wierd at first, it smells like a strong williams or a lemon ivory scent It is now my favorite for the lather and scent, I cant stop smelling it!

blech. it smells like rendered sheep and urinal pucks. and if you open it up, smoosh it into a container and leave it to 'air out', it will stink up your entire house.

works great though! hopefully you have no olfactory senses!

I fancy giving this one a try. I recently tried a palmolive stick with good results. I wasn't sure at first how to lather it, then I saw a video where the guy applied the stick directly to his face. I gave it a bash and was amazed at the results. I now face lather all my soaps (creams still go in the mug) and have had my best shaves yet! Time to give Arko a try me thinks!

I have a huge supply of Arko sticks in my house, I bought two 12pks online somewhere a while ago. Didn't use it for months because I had Tabac, my favorite soap...I am now using my sticks and I love them.

    This soap is tops!

Arko is a must. My big thanks goes out to Tekbow, he's the one who turned me onto it....

He sent me a care package of stuff not readily available in Canada, and I liked it so much, I asked him to pretty please send me more.

Another one that has great bang for the buck (and will smell better to those who don't like the smell of Arko) is the Palmolive shave stick. It's just awesome.

Now they're both in the cupboard, and seem to be getting used more often than my beloved Crabtree and Evelyn.
