A couple of hours outdoor bouldering today. I like how when climbing outdoors you need to explore the rock to find the holds; it's like finding its secrets, and when you find a nice crimp or undercling it feels so fulfilling...

Excellent Jonathan, have you visited the cycling thread i started, if you have i apolgise, my memory isnt what it was, or was more than it is.
I got out with the tow along attached yesterday so that my 6 year old could come along, we covered 8 miles plus she had a half hour play in the park, and she was very tired by the end of it.

An hour and a half indoor bouldering tonight. Sent a 'Brown' graded problem and did a 'dyno' and a few other browns I'd done before. The grades at the indoor bouldering club are rated 'White', 'Yellow', 'Blue', Green and 'Pink' in order of difficulty. I think Brown is about a v3 (for those who know about bouldering).

I have a competition coming up in two weeks where I'll enter the 'Masters' (old peoples') category. I'm feeling quite strong at the moment, but 'reading the problem' (working out the sequence of moves) is still my weak point.

i have been doing much the same as i have previously reported, i am starting to see gains, for example after christmas my belt had 3 fingers of spare after the buckle, it now has 4 fingers plus between 1 and 2". I feel better and fitter too. People at work are also saying they can see the difference.

Good on you ED. That's a long way from the coffee cup workouts you were doing a little while ago

Bike,30 minutes heart rate 130-140, 20 minutes 140-155, 20 minutes light weights. Tweaked my shoulder with the snow, waiting for my kid to put together a therapy program. She said I pulled some weird sounding muscle which is part of my rotator cuff. I guess paying for all that college will save me a few hundred.

Last night for me was a really intense bouldering session, with a lot of roof climbing and hard (for me) problems, plus some long traversing.

I plan to do climb tomorrow (Wed) night for 1.5 hours and then Sat for a really hard, long, 'pumpy' session for maybe up to three hours. Then maybe some outdoor climbing (traversing) on Sun and then no exercise until the bouldering comp on Sat the 29th. This will give me a week of no exercising climbing muscles before the comp. I may do some bench presses though.

Also, the bike track they've been building through the Adelaide hills on an old railway line is almost finished. It'll be 32 ks through the Adelaide hills through farmland (dairy cows mainly) when finished. It makes me want to get a bike; but I'm not interested in a 5 thousand dollar yuppie toy. Might start looking around for a decent old road bike...

Just an hour of bouldering tonight, but very intense doing really long traverses. Also made up some problems with big powerful long moves. Felt very strong and capable. No climbing now until Saturday when the comp is on; maybe some bench presses tomorrow night, maybe a long walk on Sat morn...

Check out this video of Jordan from the local bouldering gym, very powerful... (not sure of the link will work...)

Went out on the bike the other day for a flat out 10km run. Slept in to late for the usual run on the board. That's been increased to 18km now.
