Sounds like good advice. I intend to ride the bike mainly on a bike track near here; it run through rural land, I'll take a photo of it one day; it's very nice and pleasant; it was built on the old railway line...

High-visibility clothing rocks -- let's face it: my upper torso is a significantly larger piece of "real estate", than a tiny flashing tail light and/or head light. I wear "lime green" at dawn/dusk and when it's cloudy/overcast; otherwise it's "blaze orange". In either instance, the long-sleeved version if the UV-level is high; if not, then short-sleeved.

    My ride: 1990 Bianchi Volpe
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

I reckon that reflective bits are much more effective than lights, and the batteries dont run out, besides i have noticed a lot of bike riders with really bright lights seem to end up aiming them directly at oncoming traffic which is a tad dangerous, the driver may swerve due to being dazzled etc.

Good for you JB, I also have a cycling/ night walking shirt, bright and with reflective strips on the front and back.

Yes, here in Toronto, the clothing color of choice while cycling at night is usually dark jeans, dark hoodie, no lights on bike, and of course, no helmet...I just know Darwin was onto something when I see that....

Off to The Forest today; boldly going forth. The entrance was pretty uninviting, rather depressing.

However, after a nice walk (with a false start – a return trip to the car to check the lights were off) I came upon Tweedledum. He is beautiful and I love him.

As I saw him through the trees I said audibly “There you are!” like I’d just found a kitten hiding in the clothes basket. Then I saw his brother right there.

I circled both of them, wondering if they had been worshiped and adored ten thousand years ago, they looked so godly.

I investigated parts of them (Pink Flamingo and Drink Me) but couldn't really get anywhere.

Then I went back to Alice, who I’d seen before, looked up at her and thought how inviting she was. She really was inviting.
Looking up at her I thought she’d quite possibly be achievable for me. If I can climb her sometime in the future I’d consider myself a lucky man.

I checked out the rocks to the top left of the twins but wasn't really inspired to investigate anything. Followed little animal paths and loved seeing little streams. Reminded myself how lucky I was that I could come here.

Left by following some open land and the slope down, decided to follow my ‘natural sense of direction’ instead of my GPS, got confused, walked in circles for a while, turned on the GPS, got confused about if the waypoint ‘CAR’ was today or last week where I saw Pete’s car, ended up where I saw Pete last week, decided that ‘CAR’ was indeed where the car was NOW and followed the fence line towards it. Not a lot of climbing, a LOT of walking, but I’m so happy I got out and saw the god twins Tweedledum and Tweedledee, and tonight I’ll dream about Alice…
