Thanked: 485I've seen someone tip over at the lights too! I did read a quote somewhere that went something along the lines of 'it makes sense for a cyclist to sometimes act in a non-vehicular fashion'. Often cyclists in Adelaide will ride across pedestrian crossings and then merge into the traffic. If cyclists acted exactly like cars it'd be pretty dangerous. As Ed says, I think cyclists go through lights because they can. They can, because no camera at the lights is going to identify them as they do cars (via the number plate). I do get pissed off with cyclists riding on foot paths, esp in town, but even there, esp in a rural area, it makes sense.
I have very few of those sorts of issues as I rarely rise on a road, I'm lucky to have the bike track only a few hundred meters from my house that extends through really nice country-side.
I've been trying to ride a couple of times a week and bouldering three times a week. BTW, I can now do FIVE door frame chinups! Door frame chin ups are much harder than normal chinups, I can do 17 normal chinups but with door frame chinups there's a lot of strain on your fingers and also your arms are closer together...

Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

The first time I rode in cleats I fell over at a roundabout, the feller behind me in a car laughed. I learned to clip out pretty quickly after that.
I have to be honest, I have been known to jump lights, if I know my change is next i sometimes pull away early so that I am rolling before the cars, otherwise you end up getting cut up and forced into the kerb either in the middle or on the opposite side of the crossing.
Anyway back on topic, I have just got back from a spin around dampier, again. There are few options for short rides around here.
I have also ordered some cleat pedals to suit my cycling shoes so i can use them on this bike too.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Do any of you guys use the free Strava tracking app?
It's a great app, provides usefull data and motivation. Lots of segments that users create to compare with other users an it has the option to create 'clubs'
We have a club over at TSR shaving forum, maybe we could get a SRP club up and running?
It's all good fun with the option of a chat box. It also tracks running and is compatible with Garmin devices as well as iOS & Android users.
Shall we?

Thanked: 485Hi jaycey,
As you can probably tell from my recent posts I've started using Strava. I WAS using Map My Ride but I like Strava better. I'm very new to bike riding, and I normally ride the same route (a bike path) but I can see via Strava that sections of that route are segments other people have recorded; and it's prompted me to think about challenging myself with their segment.
I like the fact Strava doesn't use your phone credit to work (only to upload the workout, etc) which I do from home over the wireless router. I'd be interested in an SRP club on Strava if others use it, but I actually like posting to this thread; and of course SRP has a chat function; although it's rarely used...Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

I had a fast walk through the woods this afternoon on my drive home from Kansas City. This is a fun, boardwalk loop through floodplain and marsh.

3-4 days of cutting up trees and trilering them to the tip this week, no time for much else.

I have completed a 32 week program preparing for a 42k run this week. A friend and I are trying to beat out personal bests. Anything below 3.16 should do it

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanked: 485Oh, he trilers all the time, he's CONSTANTLY trilering, he can't get enough OF it.
For me, it was 1.5 hours bouldering. Did all the white, yellow and blue problems (the colours indicate 'grades') and then a bunch of long traversing and then tried a harder problem. I had a bad back to start with but 1/2 way through it sort of came good.
Might branch out with my workouts and give that trilering a go, though. Apparently it's all the rage out west....Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?
