Thanked: 983I've had the best of intentions to post here, but, I've been slack this last week, and sporadic the rest of the time. My exercise has been playing the kids WiiU (Xmas present to them) doing boxing and workouts. Nothing exciting at all. Still, my arms are hanging off me...Which is possibly as it should be, but now they're really bloody sore while they do that.

I finished up 2014 with 305 miles of cycling, walking, and running.
Today was a 2.6 mile hike. I hope some of you enjoy the pics.

I haven't been posting here because I went through a bout of shin splints that I didn't recognize as such, attributing the pain to arthritis of my ankles/knees. I do have the arthritis but the primary care diagnosed the shin splints and I had to have a layoff from cycling and walking briskly. I got past the shin splints and began again but injured my soleus by over stretching. So now I'm in the midst of another layoff. Getting old ain't for sissies.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 485I had shin splints in the army when I was a recruit and they're not fun. Never thought cycling could be a problem with shin splints, though. So guess you're stuck with bench presses, shoulder presses, arm curls, dips, chin ups, maybe some climbing?
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Thanked: 485Bit of a shortish, slowish ride today. Nice hills on this ride though, esp on my single speed.
Got a new (hand-me-down) phone from my son, a Nokia Lumia 920. It picks up GPS sattelites MUCH better than my old phone. Being that it uses the Windows OS (Windows Phone 8.1) I had to get another GPS tracking app, as Strava, which I used to use, doesn't have a version for the Windows Phone OS. So, I found 'Sports Tracker' which is free and really good. I did start with another (Cycle Tracks GPS) but it seemed to drain the battery really fast.

Thanked: 485Mr Urbaaaane cyclist popped the bike in the car, drove down town and then parked, got on his bike and rode his bike through Adelaide to a great coached bouldering session at the bouldering club with Jarrett who's over here from Canada.
Now, Adelaide is hardly New York city, but I've lived in and around Adelaide for 50 years and this is the first time I've ridden through the city. BIT scary but not too bad. Just got beeped once.
Funny thing is I took a wrong turn on the way there, despite driving that exact same way for two years.
Might need a small, canvas style backpack, though, the (arguably extremely cool) re-purposed Swiss WWII Ration Shoulder Bag is possibly not very practical as it slips to one side...

If you are going to buy a bag for on your bike make sure it fastens securely, you don't want stuff coming out whilst you are riding down the road.
