A really good workout today, 16Ks on the bike and a PB of 40:25 for the route. I know it's slow but for me a PB is still a PB...
Also, a link to the motivational video I watched before the ride and a video on Aaron, my eldest son, working out...

Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Good work. Remember that a single speed isn't as fast as a multi speed. I can spend close on 30 mins doing about 9 km on the fixed.

Yeah, I was thinking of the limitations last night. However, considering I'm riding on a bike path with kids, people walking their dogs, etc t'd be silly to try and go too fast anyway.

You just need to shout loud enough
You should give the fixed wheel a try - it is a better work out.

I've decided against flipping my wheel to make it a fixie, Ed. I wouldn't be able to peddle fast enough on some of the downhill sections. If it was flatter I'd consider it...

Thats where the brake comes in, along with slaloming down the hill, i am seriously considering bringing my cleats up to use with this bike, i keep coming out of the foot straps/ toe clips.

I read an article where a guy was explaining why bicycles did not stop at stop signs. He said they didn't want to tip over! a few weeks later I was waiting for a left turn at a light and watched a bike try to come to a stop. HE TIPPED OVER! I laughed so hard I almost ran over him driving by as he lay in the street. After I thought about it he couldn't get his cleats off his pedals. That reinforced my thoughts about fixed wheel. Don't use something meant for racing/show in a different environment.

Well I use cleats all the time on my other bike, i would guess that the guy you saw was new to cleats. The guy writing the article is full of poo, if I don't want my bike to tip over i clip out (small rotation of your foot) and put my foot down. I don't track stand.
Cyclists go through light because they think they can get away with it.

5 mile bike ride today. Three miles on mountain bike trail, two on paved path. The leaves are beginning to turn.

Today I ride a five mile loop. Glorious weather and some fun trails. Saw a deer and a couple of turkeys. The loop is on the opposite end of the trail I ride last week.
