When riding a fixed gear, and a pedestrian steps in front of you, as you crash into them, and both of you go into the asphalt, you see your life flash before your eyes. Don't ask me how I know. With all due respect, I don't mind putting my own bod on the line, but have a responsibility to ride safely where the possibility of hurting bystanders is concerned. It is true that I did have a front brake on that bike ....... couldn't get to it in time, them cranks keep turning, as you know. But when the man came and looked everything over, having a brake may have kept me from being in worse trouble.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

No way bro. Thats how we ride on the East Coast...LOL I've seen some mountain bikes with the same length of post coming up from the frame.

The seat post seems so exaggerated because the top tube slopes down so far. The frame is a 57 and I also have really long legs.

These are my girlfriends and my bikes.
Modern old style cruisers. 3 Speed internal cluster so it looks like a single speed.
I actually don't know how the 3 speed works yet, I'll have to investigate.
Have previously always had good multi geared mountain bikes having lived in hilly countryside but now living in the flat lands decided to try something different.

Biking would be no fun with all that extra weight.
    LOL!

It's only 4 pounds and not carry every time. Besides I don't feel the weight except for acceleration, deceleration or hills. There no hills in South Florida.

When I have a loaded bike (touring), it's like training with weight. After that, an unloaded bike feels light as a bird!

When I take the CF (17lb) for a ride it's a riot! I feel like Lance Armstrong on steroids!

I chose to ride brakeless so I control the speed and the braking of my bike with my legs only. I like the connection to the bike and love that I am relying solely on my own endurance to get around since I can't stop pedaling.

    brakes
thanks for the answer... thought so, it is more a state of mind kind of thing if I'm not misaken, with me riding it that could s (as far as citiy is concenrned) get ugly too quickly (with "braking" only on the rear end).. not to mention I usually have a kid on the seat in the back (well actually not so long ago i had 2 in a trailor )

Freebie single speed fixed wheel. If I get on with it I will buy it some decent wheels and tyres. I might also put on my cleat pedals too.

Small paint job update, naming of bicycle, adjustment of seat and handlebar heights and shortening of handlebars.

Yellow tiger stripes added, for absolutely no good reason. But it came out ok.

I have named my steed "wheels of steel", because I can, and it does have steel wheels.

Cut 35mm off either end of the handlebars. I just like narrower bars.

I usually find that it takes me a while to be comfortable at full stretch on bikes if i haven't ridden for a while, this was no exception, but today I stuffed around with seat post and bar heights, i raised the saddle about 40 mm and dropped the bars about 50 mm. It's pretty comfy now. I just need better shoes., mine have too soft soles.

I also raised the saddle another inch. I think the old girl is nearly there.
