Thread: wow...amazing shaving video!!!!!

Sidneykidney is a very well respected gentleman in these forums, he has a great dedication to the sport and he is always willing to share his knowledge, i have been enjoying his posts for ages,he is always helping newbies how to do things right.
I know he is trying to protect newbies from slicing their faces up,it takes a lot of knowledge and practice to do what willi did in the video, it is a long ( very enjoyable) road to get there and i know sidneykidney just doesnt want people to get hurt.
I have sliced my ear and face a few times and they are gonna be forever scars just because i got confident...so yes ...i agree this video should come with a warning.
Sidneykidney you are also the bomb! i think you and willi should have children, seriously.

Willi, thanks for that video. Could you tell us how close the shave was when you were finished? (But close or not, if I tried to do it that fast I would probably cut my goddamn head off).

I once tried putting my stainless steel Calvin Kline into boiling water. The whole clump of badger seperated from the handle. I had to use gorilla glue to stick it back in. Lesson learned, don't boil your badger

It is good to see you hear and i'm glad you spoke up. Glad you could clear up the video speed thing. SIB is correct. I am not (despite what you think) jealous but simply concerned that you'll give other newbies the impression that you can just lather up and slice on. What we dont see in your video is all the things that made your shave what it was. We never saw your razor being honed. We only saw a slight rub on the strop. So whilst you maybe did them there is no indication for new shavers. Which is why the newbie section of this forum gets inundated by the same questions regularly, and why people like myself get a little narked.

I bettered my time this morning. I shaved a two pass in 4 minutes and 10 seconds, not counting my strapping time, and I didn't nick myself this time, although I did see 5 or six scattered red dots that looked like they might have wanted to become nicks.

Great video, and thanks for sharing it.

One thing I got out of this video is that Willi uses much longer strokes than Lynn does. Lynn's strokes kind of go shk-shk-shk and Willi's go shhhhhhhhhhhhk. Short strokes slow me down, plus I have a hard time picking up where the previous stroke left off, so I tend to go over the same area too many times (irritating). I'm sure there's nothing inherently wrong with short strokes--after all, Lynn uses them--but I find longer strokes are faster & easier to do. If I decide to go back to short strokes, I'll have to discipline myself to always start each stroke precisely where the previous one left off.
