Love the color of the horn. That might be my favorite material for scales.

This honing came out very well. Two passes, wtg,xtg, and no irritation.
The edge feels very light, delicate. I am very happy with it.

Disinfected in barbacide, Stropped 100 on leather, 100 on linen. Wiped with mineral oil, packaged and shipped with an old matching razor box, plus some pins and washers to get the kid started on his way on his own restorations.

I do love it. Easy to shape and shine. Goes well with old blades. Also like poly pearl and wood too though.

Pay it forward.

This was a great thread.. thanks for taking time to document it. When in the heat of battle in a project it's not easy to remember to stop and document things.. Glad you did..

Lessons learned..

You didn't use any really esoteric tools or techniques, which reminds me to KISS. I have a shop full of cool tools, but that doesn't mean I have to use them. An old piece of laminate flooring and a few corks.. and you have a jig to straighten warped scales. Now, if I could only straighten my warped Friodur like that, I'd be far ahead of the curve...

Patience in working through problems.. that might be the greatest factor in weeding out the serious from the casual.

Inventory helps.. The fact that you had materials and old scales on hand made it easier to test fixes without committing.

Throwing ideas out to the forums.. you got some great feedback along the way. Might not have used all of for this project, but added to your 'book of tricks' should you face something similar in the future is just as good.

I probably learned more than is coming to mind. so thanks again and thanks to SRP for making it possible to have such a dialogue!!

+1 this was a great thread, well done on the restore and nice touch adding some pins and washers.
