So did you do the drill press and sewing awl regimen?

Hirlau has that down pat. Secret is the wheel tool you go around what you are doing.
    Drill Drill, sew sew!

It is so cool to see guys working with leather here. I am in possession of all it takes.

I may be good at it if I could find the time. Someday!
    Thanks!

And Mike, awesome job on that buck! Had to mention, the aging in the reveal really makes those scales pop.
    Nice work buddy!

Ohhh! Some carved whale scales. Yes!

    Get to work, Men!
They do resemble a whale and could easily be made that! The blade needs a full home and still need to get it pinned. I figure the scales won't last long but it was fun. I tried holding it in the open position just never dawned to try it in stropping spot. I'm hoping maybe tomorrow night I'll get back to it.

Drill'press! F--k, that would have been so much easier than the little crimp pinch thingy I was squeezing the hell out of. Was why it was crooked as well. Took both hands to pop the leather holes out after the first 20 or so.
Next time, drill, press and a 1/16 jobber bit. Would make it easier to do straight lines..
    Thanks Tom.

What's a babar collar? I'm thinking tomorrow at work I'll cut some larger diameter washers than the ones I cut and use now. Really could get fancy and make some on the lathe but that would be tedious on a full size lathe.

Outback Mike, fantastic job. I believe it will grow on ya but it looks good. I have been that way with a few things. May not have liked it at first but then it grew on me. Can't think of what it is now because it ended up growing on me!!!

Tom is right, the scales ejmolitor37 made do look like a whale, like one of them there long ones we've all seen in a pic somewhere...........

B52, I knew it would look good burning the image on leather. I didn't have any doubt.

Nice work, guys. Good to see projects moving forward.
Mike the buck looks good, too bad the original washed clean but it's looking good to me now the way it is.
B52, the sheath is sweet and the laser worked great. I'm thinking how nice that would do logos on strops!
Eric, the scales look nice but Tom might be right about awkward stropping with the curve at the pivot, I hope it's ok.

Babur is a guy in Germany who makes these collars. Nickel-plated brass.
You grind off the end to fit. Don't use his silver pins, though. They are stainless. Too hard.
He sells on Ebay. 'Razor Handles' is his handle there I think.

They also come in brass. There are also fancy overcollars you can put on top of them.
