Thanked: 4826A parts bin is a handy thing. I never throw my old scales out, even if I only have one side. If nothing else they are great templates, and in this case a quick save.
Nice work going on here gents. Garrison it looks like that leather is just a tad dry. Good thing all you needed was the hardware! It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

I should have taken a picture of the Rose's strop, but the only one I took a picture of was the crusty cracker there. I'll try to get a before and then an after when I work on it.
Just searching around a bit I see Rose's mentioned as early as 1912 in the Iowa State Gazetteer and Business Directory. And then this from Class & Industrial Marketing 1920

Guessing that the double reflection on that blade was from being full hollow. Hadnt noticed it before. Kind cool.

Thanked: 4206Working on an old skinning knife a friend wants to give his father in law for his 80 birthday.
Was in pretty beat up shape when I got it. Most of the blade clean up is already completed.
He wants it in a sheath with his name lasered down the face..
First one of these I've ever tried to make. Normally leave the leather work to those that are better at it. But he wants a name burnt on it, so I figured I'd try.

Mike, I'm interested in how that will work out on leather.
Actually, I think it'll work out okay.
