After working on it late into the night I came back to it this morning and still scratches, I am most likely going to have to live with a couple scratches in the blade. Also I started on the back side using a cork to hold the sand paper and it looks really good minus like three deep scratches, I am hoping that the dark spots on the face will come out but I am more concerned with the scratches for some reason.

I feel the same way...hate random scratches.
Probably from honing, and letting the spine drop off the edge of the stone.
    Have a few like that...oh well.[emoji17]

Well got the Henckels, and Parker all finished up, the Parker still has some deep scraches on the the face but I didn't want to remove any more metal than I already have. Also waiting on the scale material but here are the blades.

Nice work. Getting them cleaned up, and they will be finished and back to work soon.

Cleaned up the IXL FBU some tonight with nothing but 3m and was pretty surprised how well it performed on the black rust at the toe.

I really don't think I will do much else. Rust is gone, I can live with the surface blemishes.
For the sake of the pins as received I've decided not to separate it either.
    Cheers gents..

Mike! Rub it gently with a folded-over strip of soft paper-towel, With WD40 dribbled on and a snurdle of powdered CroOx laid on the strip and pressed-in.
A bit messy, but it gives a bit of 'frost'. Looks older and less shiny. Blends a lot in..Go around the etch mostly.
A bit there once in a while.

    Might take a while!
