I put that old Lafayette back together.

After doing the top jimping I figured I might as well decorate the spine a little since it was so pitted.

That last guy who put the copper pin in the toe end of the scales left a pretty big hole to fill:

Because I have modern adhesives I just glued them back but I figured what the heck, might as well pin it too, got that hole there already. So I put in some brass tube, and then pinned it up with some pretty stuff I had laying around, which is actually steel plated with brass, so it was not so easy to work (had to drill it out to 1/16" etc).

I don't know if I can get an edge on it because the pitting is really bad at the heel. But I was trying to make it purty because I found myself thinking of it as a 'she.' In fact, I found myself thinking of Lucinda Williams singing:

    Nice car. Lotta miles.

Received this Japanese made western a few days ago. There was not a lot to do to bring it around. Cleaned and polished lightly and then honed on one of my Japanese natural stones.
I am looking forward to the shave this evening. Beautiful day here. Around 70 degrees and sunny. With the razor finished it is time for a pipe or two on the back patio. I hope all of you are
    having a great day.

Awesome picture of the sunrise, Mike. Quite a view from the boat and a beautiful day! Great moment there. So, did you catch any fish?

Edit: I just saw them in "just wanted to share tonight's dinner". Nice catch!

Wow, that is a looker! Gorgeous steel and I like the scales too. What's the width, if I may ask? It looks like a 6/8" or wider?
