From bottom to top: Spike; can’t wait to get those scales cleaned up, Flinn’s Special; is in very good shape, Henckels; there is a hairline crack stemming from the barber’s notch but otherwise decent, Three Dollar Blue Steel; grimy, Krusius Bros. KB Extra; love those scales

Certifyd #4; someone put this brush away wet years ago, the wood was soaked with grime and the nylon bristles were shot, but it's getting back in shape.

Yes you may ask, the blade is 21mm wide. And it is a sweet shaver.

The blade on this Fontenille 134 came to me in good shape. The scales refused to center though. The wedge pin looked warped, so I took both pins out and test fitted. Still off. Straightened both scales. Nope. There seemed to be a warp in the tang that curved to the right, but it was closing too far to the left(what?). So I threw in some thrust washers and did some sanding on the inside of the pivot area and finally got it centered. I worked on a George Buttler a couple weeks ago that gave me the same trouble. Time for sanding, polishing and pinning.

Very nice work Matt. I purchased a blade with that same etching a couple weeks ago. The seller sent me another blade with the same etching but in worse condition. I sent it back. Very disappointing because I was really looking forward to working on such a cool blade.

Some razors are really quite challenging to get to sit straight. I have had a couple. I think one is still sitting in the to be honed box. I was fairly angry with it by the time it got that far and I have not felt like taking it any further. Lord I hope it is still centering.

I am fond of wood over G-10. The funny part is I don't really care for G-10 as a scale material, but it is a great liner. Strong and thin and paired with wood it looks fantastic.
No finishes for me. I am currently baking and thinking about polishing a blade that is on the bench. Nice work gentlemen.

I got the Otto scales back from MikeB52 today and now I have it all put together and honed ready for a shave in the morning! This razor has come a long way and with the help of Mike to etch the logo into the scales I made for it. I can't thank him enough, a genuine saint he is!

I found the razor in an aging barn turned seasonal antiques store about four years ago. I didn't a picture of what the original scales looked like at that time, but they were really bad, sort of a decomposing sticky/melty plastic mess. Here's what the blade looked like:

And here's what we have now!

I'm thrilled to have this one restored! I've been trying to figure out what to do about the logo on the scales ever since I got it. It was always a project waiting to happen and now it's finished, couldn't be happier. Big thanks Mike!

Well Outback was right, there was some wonkiness in my WB wedge. I did manage to get a bevel set but it took me a while. Decided to not worry about the grind marks and am just aiting to get soem scales to put her back together. Was also my first time trying to hone a wedge
