I found the razor in an aging barn turned seasonal antiques store about four years ago. I didn't a picture of what the original scales looked like at that time, but they were really bad, sort of a decomposing sticky/melty plastic mess. Here's what the blade looked like:

I'm thrilled to have this one restored! I've been trying to figure out what to do about the logo on the scales ever since I got it. It was always a project waiting to happen and now it's finished, couldn't be happier. Big thanks Mike!

I like everything you did to this one! Excellent job

Very y nice to see that one come together Tuzi. Great work!

Alan. Have you considered reshaping those scales? They look pretty bulky for that blade.

Actually as soon aas I typed this I decided that they are not going back on that blade. I have an identical pipe razor and it just seems right to make them a matching set of scales whenever I get the chance. I was planning on sanding down the scales a bit though.
Also wanted to mention we tried to buy another house last week but were beaten to it by someone else. If we had gotten the house I would have gotten my double garage and this workshop

For now I am stuck having to move everthing out of my "garage" whenever I want to do any work

They look bulky because of the excessive bling and the fact that the blade is not a big one
(modern-grind wedge). I reckon they are precisely the size of the originals. Or close?
The scales on most are pretty big for the blade size.
    Looks spot-on to me!

I think he was talking about Alan's bulky wood scales on the Pipe razor. Yes, the Otto scales are spot on, I had a good picture from the SRP library, brought it up on my computer, resized the image until the blade matched and, voila, traced the scales from the screen.

Yeah! It was also how I was able to get Mike the measurements he needed for sizing and placing the logo correctly.

Yes, Alan. Do some swooping and get them thinner toward the pivot.
Set 'em on some sandpaper and thin them out.

Nice grain there. Bit of shaping?
