JR Torrey
Didn't think this one would survive a total restoration , after being almost destroyed by someone else. So I took it as far as my comfort level allowed. A few scratches remain from the a-hole with the grinder, before me.!
I did end up loosing a bit of width, at the heal, because it became too thin. (foil edge)
But only a bevels worth.
But again, the use of the SE blade started it all. Then moved to 600 greaseless, on the stitched wheel, to scotchbrite wheels. Back to the stitched wheel and Emory, then Cr/OX. Then a rag wheel and Maas. Pinned it back together with nickle/silver rod and original collars. Honed and completed at five till midnight.
Test shave this morning was the most delightful, from any other Torrey I've owned. But this one is "custom"....its an extra hollow ground now.

Thanked: 4826Mike you do nice work, and on top of that I can't believe how many razors you find in the wild. I do a road trip most years that takes me past a series of small antique shops but never see that kind of volume. Clearly the razor hunting is good in your angosc.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

I could have had two Spike razors too.
But he wouldn't come down to "my" price. He told me one had been honed, and the other had not. So for insulting my intelligence, I obliged him by pulling my loupe and did a close examination.
He quickly changed his mind and started blurting out all kinds of nonsense. Then asked "me" what I'd give "him! for them, then raised the price $5 over my bid. I stood my ground.
By the way. They had both been honed, and bevels had chips. Plus the tip on the nice one was chipped off or broken, a bit more than just dulling the point.
He was polite enough to give me his card so we could keep in contact, should he change his mind, or come across others.Mike
