I've been giving some thought on razor storage. I currently use a large cigar box which comfortably holds 10 straight razors.
I'm considering buying some wool felt to line the bottom and sides of the cigar box and then also some balsawood, which I'll cover in the same felt, to use as dividers.
At least the cigar box will be more presentable and the razors will be better protected.
Thoughts or suggestions?Tony

Tony, one of these glue-rollers is the bomb for sticking down fabric/balsa, FME.

I've had a wooden cigar box for over a year now plus I went & bought the felt. The least I could buy I think was 1 yard or something like that but Looking at the felt, I'll have plenty left over. I never finished it yet because I wanted to make sure I did not screw up putting the felt in. I put it off at the time & that is what I need is that thingamajig Tom has! I have a few things that need completing. Oh yeah, I still need to make the dividers. I need a better scroll saw. I just got it out & I sold the other one I had which was a nice wooden one also but it was too small which I knew when I got then but it was a deal. When looking for something like this, make sure they have the measurements listed which is what I did on this. The listing also said one was leather covered & it looks like it. This one is fine but I prefer one in a nice wood.
Those pieces came out of the top. I had to remove them so I can lay felt in it, then put the wood pieces back in.Last edited by engine46; 08-05-2016 at 06:56 PM.

Just finished up re-scaling another German beauty! As some recall I used this same material on this same razor after getting it in. However, the scales to me felt flimsy from how thin I planed them down so I decided to beef them up and use a ivory acrylic wedge. Well, I am overwhelmed by the outcome! Polyester resin scales; brass step down collars with brass pins; nylon pivot bushings; and a ivory acrylic wedge. As usual I 800 grit sanded the facing plates then 9 step micro mesh wet sanded then used Novus step 1 & 2 fine scratch remover and polish then buffed on a cotton wheel.

The cigar box project sounds like a great idea! I'm going to have to keep an eye out for a box...

When doing so make sure they put the inside & outside measurements but the inside is most important since that is where you will be putting razors. If you go to the bay & type wooden cigar box, they will come up. I think they still sell them in boxes like that & they have a moisture meter in them, mine did & I had to take it out. I edited my post above & added pics of my box.
