Interesting, was there ever evidence that Greaves made razors for Packwood? Or perhaps both firm used the same scales supplier?

I am intrigued by scales with silver end caps. I have never seen any live, just pictures. All in good time.

I think you will figure it out. As for sourcing them, the guy sell on eBay under the name razor-handles I believe, he is in Germany.

I think I remember reading a thread a few years ago that they were trying to figure who made Packwoods. If I recall there were some similarities which hinted that maybe Greaves was involved, at least for part of the time Packwoods were being made. I'll have to search back through and find it. That's possible another firm was making Packwoods and using the same end cap supplier as Greaves. But that's the mystery, last I heard nobody knows exactly who made Packwoods. So, I like to try to figure it out! Here's one on display at the Shelburne Museum like the two I have...

Since lots of scales and (seemingly) Packwood razors were done by cottage-industry and little meisters, they may well come from the same hands?

Entirely possible, i was thinking the OP had evidence that they were made by Greaves. Would be nice to know who made the Packwood's. i know that Neil, Zak and myself did a lot of research on Packwood and never found anything about who actually made the razors for him.

I was thinking of these threads on Packwoods
    http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...d-mystery.html
    http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...-packwood.html
But neither of them say anything about Greaves. I must have either dreamed it or read something in a thread about Greaves that mentioned Packwood (not the other way around!)
But even the font and stamp of the maker's mark at that time look similar to me... not proof but maybe a hint?

My bad wording when I said "evidence", I just meant possible hints that show maybe Greaves was involved. Sorry about that!

Thank you, Richard! (found some 16 ga brass wire too, wondering if "dead soft" is too soft)

Thank you, Outback! I've used super glue and baking soda (successfully) on a couple of other (but thicker) projects.

OK, I'm done quoting for awhile, lol...
