Well, here's my first post in this epic thread. Here's a set of streaked honey horn scales I'll be putting the Ern Ator blade in. I've hand-sanded the blade to 1000; gonna work up through the grits to 3000 and avoid buffing, as I don't want to round the beautiful lines on this classic. Will post results soon, but I'm gonna take a day and go fishing tomorrow!

This will be my 11th rescale, and after a lot of frustration (especially on wedges!), and a lot more reading and study here, I'm hoping that all the expert advice I've gotten will finally come together in a beautiful result. Fingers crossed! Aaron

Those scales turned out beautiful! That horn is stunning and that's a nice blade too. Man! What a sweet razor that's turning out to be. Good luck fishing!

Thanks, Xiaotuzi-Your own work continues to inspire me. As for the fishing, I've got a secret stretch on a local bass river that literally nobody else goes to (probably because it's a mile of brush-busting through blackberries to get to it-but I know of some hidden game trails, and I've got a sharp machete) that always fishes great. Perfect flows and weather forecast tomorrow-I've got the 6 wt fly-rod already strung up and ready!

That is some pretty horn. I love the multi color streaked horn, and to think that once upon a time they would dye it all black. The blade is great too. I am looking forward to your results.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Outback, believe it or not, most are spotted bass on this stream. I seem to do the most damage with rabbit strip zonkers, olive crystal buggers, in other words baitfish imitations. Here's a pretty typical specimen from this stream.Name: image.jpg

Edit: Well, that's a Circus Peanut fly in the pic. Sometimes they like big and flashy too! Sorry for the off topic post, gentlemen.

I just got back. Got there right at sun-up on a beautiful day, threw everything in the box at 'em for about 3 hours, tried several "secret weapon" flies and techniques-no dice. Finally, I tried a black crystal flash bugger, and it was like a light switch! The worst day I ever had down there became the best day-I may post some pics down in Finer Things later.

I'm putting some new scales on this Louper. Found out the hard way the original scales were created from a thick paper like material. I left this thing in the sink in some soapy water for about 3 minutes and the scales basically disintegrated. No worries. It will shave again..

So my pal Roy (cudarunner) sent me some acrylic scale material. Man, is this stuff is easy to work with or what. This is my first experience with this material.
I'll post the completed project soon.
