It took two days, but the scales creeped back into their original, twisted position.
After several failed attempts at shimming and test fitting, I came to a simple (probably unorthodox to some) way to resolve the problem.
I marked the location of the wedge on the scales, then using a dremmel and drum sander, hollowed out the inside of the scale so the edge didn't make contact when closed.
Pinned it back up and honed her up.
    Time for a test shave.!!

    Test shave was flawless.
    A very quiet, smooth shaver.
Just as a wedge should be.

So it's raining here and I was doing the Maas thing on my Wiss scales. No bueno....

Went out to the buffer and the white stick and worked 45 minutes. Stuff has to get hot to polish to black, it seems.
Looking good, I guess. Could not resist hitting the tang and blade a bit here and there..

    Lazy me!

Thanks, guys. Just a lot of light stuff works better than a little heavy stuff, for me, anyway.

Not done yet. Still have some details and then honing.
