I think I'm going to leave that to the next person who owns it. I have enough to hone as it is.

I've been spending some time cleaning up a Wester Bros. Manganese Steel with a 6/8ths blade. It came to me in pretty good shape but needed a general cleaning, scrubbing between the scales and around the pivot, a good disinfecting, and polishing of the scales. I've never used a Wester Bros. before so next I'll work on honing and trying it out.

Thanks engine46. Har! Crack me up. That is exactly what I thought when I unwrapped this thing. Oh crap! That's a little bit wonky.

    Here's Ebay photo.

I've been working on re-profiling my W&B wedge. I've labored over how to match spine profile and came up with mic'ing every 1/4".

Is this a good method asks the wannabe hobbyist? In advance thank you. I know somebody here has a better mouse trap.

Not my scratches. Why do people scrub across the grind? They will be gone when done. Blade is cleaning up where my fingers hold it for profiling.

You can trace the spine and then mark it on the edge. Use a little plastic, like from an ice cream bucket lid, or some heavy card stock. Mark the width at the toe and heel and then use your template to get it set. A little felt pen and bingo. Your method works too. Same same. There are many roads but they all get you to the colosseum.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

I picked those two up last Saturday ( previous post )

    Sunday afternoon:
Start on the Imperial with a SE razor blade, cutting away all in my path. A little work with wire toothbrush, and a spin with my stitched dremmel wheel, and emory.

Picked out a set of scales from Sharptons gift box. But had to remove the 1/8" copper pin from the wedge end, and repair.
    .
    Still on the bench.
The other razor.....Details after evening news.
