That's very nice of you PR100, but I am not going to do a lot more work on this one, except cleaning it, putting it back together and honing it. I will do a little polishing I guess, but it's a 5/8", which is a size that I don't enjoy very much. A few weeks ago I sent two 5/8" razors I'd cleaned up and honed for the monthly giveaway -- I think they will be in the May giveaway. I think that will happen to this one too!

The scales were amazingly filthy when I got them apart. They're soaking in a strong sodium percarbonate solution now. That stuff tends to kill pretty much anything you put in it, but it's fine for the septic system. Also, the copper pin was indeed a hack job -- I think these scales were a single molding that had split and been drilled and pinned back together.

Scales of that type that I have renewed were factory bonded at the wedge end. That bonding gave up volume of celluloid faster than the rest of the material as it aged. Also because the scales shrunk,(shrank, shrinked,) the blade wedged the bond apart. YMMV

Nice job on those Shaun! Love the translucency of that horn. Great scale shapes buddy.

And Thaeris, terrific, terrific work on that pendant..
Right out of a time capsule and so classy.
