What a sweet sound to hear after so much time had passed.

Looks like I got everything done correctly (which was worrisome as the bike has assemblies like I've never worked on before) but no fuel leaks, and no oil leaks and the oil leak was the reason for the tear down.

On thing I've hated to use for years and years are worm drive hose clamps as they are just butt ugly! Especially when there is a 'tail' sticking out an inc. Oh they work but they are still ugly.

I picked up some of these to use to secure the new fuel line and they look just like OEM. Well I did get a bit anal and polished them up since they are SS.

All I need to do to have the bike road ready is to finish cleaning up the air cleaner and mount the seat. It's supposed to warm up a bit more so maybe it'll be test ride time in a day or so
What are those things called and where can I find them?

Man, I hate to follow-up Tuzi's fine work!

Oh well..Got the old 14 peened back together. Some light buff using some black compound I was out of got it better. Austin's silver collars and some thin brass spacers.
This feels nice in-hand. Tomorrow, it will be cold, so the honing commences!
    Some cruddy workbench pics.

Nice one Tom. It looked pretty clean besides the tang when you started. Was you able to get all that ugly off the pivot area with the black compound? Or did you have to do some sanding too?

Yeah. I reckon that is what I was hoping for.
That pretty blue patina hides some stuff.
Also, the tang had bits of rust, yet they were deep. Still some pitting where the blade tip hit the scales. I commented earlier in this thread how at a point, it looked better before I began!
Progressively sanded everything. some spots like the tang took some compounds to get better.
More work than I thought, yet well-worth it, I hope!

Dang! Forgot.. Gotta go demagnetize it! It was picking-up drill bits, inner collars and such!

Thanks, Rez. I never had but this one. I suppose I was saving it for quality time.....
    Yeah, right!
Looking forward to getting it sharp. I dulled it on a glass bottle before I did anything.

Cuts down on tragedies! It's thin!

Yea, that a gorgeous Henckel's Tom, really a beautiful job...man, looks brand new.

They are one of my favourite blades without a doubt...Sheffield steel and a field of #14's and I'm good to go....smokin'!
