    Nice job on the gold.

All my pins are cut short to length so I can keep them in a little cup. Bummer. Guess I need to pick up a few more. If anything, it looks as if its lined up the opposite direction.

I'm a fan of the modern wedges like that Spike there, Tom. I just got one in good shape with the green-n-gold a month or so ago. Yours is looking good, got the gold shining!

Nice looking scales, Jerry. I love the Morado, a handsome chocolate color when finished. The wood scales sometimes don't flex as much as horn or acrylic unless they are really thin. If they aren't flexing out from the wedge and into the pivot enough the side of the tang near the stamp can touch when closing and push it to one side, sometimes a lot. Look and see if it's closing on center all the way through the arc until the tang reaches the scales, then if it gets pushed over at that point, there's your problem. Might need to take a little wood off the inside of the scales at that point, sometimes you can see where because it's shiny from the tang rubbing on there. You can hold it up to a light and watch the space as it closes. Once you get good clearance it should center better.

A longer rod will tell you more.
Anyhoo, a drill bit in a pin-vise, sawing back and forth in the right direction will usually get it straight after a bit. Make certain it wobbles evenly side-to-side.

ALSO, old Sheffields depend on the tang to guide the blade in. They are supposed to hit the scales at the tang. Spacers negate this. I seldom, if ever, use spacers on them for this reason.

Close the blade and see if one side of the tang is hitting the scale and the other not.
A bit of dremel-drum inside the scale where the tang hits will stop excessive 'steerage', as it were.

    OH! Tuzi got it!

That turned out nice. The scales are just barely big enough but close enough for my book.

I took and sanded and scaped one side of the inside of the wood scales so the washer recessed into the wood on the rear of the washer. Added two washers to the other side of the blade. Drilled the pivot hole out a bit larger along with the scale and wedge holes. Now it will close without hitting the scales but just inside the edge. Not centered. That is as close as I can get for some reason...
