    FWW
search ebay for "straight razor pins"
There is another seller that sell solid washer type washers. AJ's fit the scale curves better.

Thanks Richard, I remember that discussion from way back, saw the solid ones and thought I'd ask.
I knew it was a guy on this forum making the pressed ones and wanted to support "local".

Now I just need to decide which to get .. nickel/silver, stainless, brass, etc etc... guess I'll have to buy a bit of each.

Definitely gonna head to Ace hardware too. Thanks for the reminder Jerry, there's one down the street but it's not on the way to work so I forgot to go.

I like those that Richard refers to, but the chamfer on the inside is too steep. The pin-length has to be exactly right and everything super-tight before peening as the pin will seize in them in short order FME.

I too much prefer the hollow stamped collars for exactly the same reason.

That's a great pic! Now I remember why I liked those ones also, yet for a different reason.
On "flat faced" scales they are great. Also I think they are good quality but maybe need a pin vice polishing up before. Don't know if there are different manufacturers..?
Then the domed 26gauge brass collars "form-fit". And have that great original look.

I contacted Austin and am getting a whole set!

Now onto a pin-vice. Any suggestions? There are a bunch, I've used a few before and know that some are better than others.
Anybody find a really nice one out there?

Assure that you get the sizes of collets they take before buying, some have really tiny openings!

Over on WSW, i think it was mike, but i could be wrong. He stated he used a piece of pinning rod peened on one end and put a piece of writing pen insert cut off like a short tiny tube on it. Put you collar on the pin, then slip the tube you made on the pin, chuck it up in a drill and spin on polish on a rag.

Ive done this but i left off the tube. Just a short piece of pin, peened one one end. Slip the collar on the pin, chuck it up so the collar is against the drill chuck. Spin on polish on a rag. Worked like a champ. A little extra hand rubbing helps too but this is easy and i had no need to buy the pin vice this way

I keep it pretty simple. A screw, a collar, a piece of tube, and a nut. It holds everything while I polish it up with a buffing wheel and some mother’s.
