Need the magnet to suck the saw over, I reckon!

So back on my funky old razor! https://straightrazorpalace.com/work...ml#post1848064

It shaves awesome! Like it would never cut you and leaves felled whiskers in it's wake! Very nice!

Learned this before,,,,,,,Messing with the spine is often fruitless, Is what it is. Tape it.
Getting the bevel down seems the ticket!

    Happy with this one....Finally!

With the set of the teeth and the magnet they should be dragging.

Sorry about that. I misread the original question.

When he takes that piece out of his scrap bin early in the video, the hole is already there. So it has no purpose in the jig.

In Japanese saws for fine cuts like dovetails, the teeth are not set so there would be no teeth to scrape the jig. I imagine that is the case with the one he uses in the video.

OR, he considers the jig made from scrap to be sacrificial and just doesn’t care if it gets cut up a bit by the top edge of the saw as long as the cutting edge is doing its job.

And the 2 aluminum scales on a pair of crown razors...

I think I got a little shine on the aluminum.

Got to work on a blade that has been miss treaded for years now. The black rubber scales look good now but the blade is only going to get a little better. Hope to get it finished and put together later today. Then some honing.

I did some quick looking into different Japanese style saws and in makes sense that a Kataba style saw that only has teeth on one side is recommended for cutting along a guide. Like a western style you would have to make a choice of a rip or cross cut.
