TBH, I think a larger blade would go better with the size of those scales....Just me.

Hmmm. So, you think a bit narrower for this blade? I do have a Ralf Aust that I absolutely hate the scales and was going to replace them.
    Thanks for the input.

Nice work Tom. I do enjoy tight more than just snug. I need to buy some of those solid collars as im out. They are very nice.

And as Tom was saying. Those burl scales look nice but you could put so much more blade in them. I find when a razor is closed it should fill the scales. Meaning to reach almost out the bottom of the scales. Of course you dont want it to stick out the bottom, but to fill.

You can use them as you want, reshape them a little for a fuller fit or use them on another blade as its yours. Its all up too you. Being you havent made a lot of scales i think you did great. I enjoy reshaping for a more perfect fit. Its fun, but ive dont a couple more sets. Just dont go too thin at the pivot. That was one of my mistakes and still is.

    Thank you!
I agree with Shaun that the contrast is cool with the wedge but I think that white or a lighter color would look better. If you need the balance brass would look cool. I like Tom think that the scales should just be deep enough to cover the edge. Any more makes them look thick.

But these things are cosmetic and each of us have our own likes and dislikes.

If you like how a burl wedge looks, Go for it!

When I first looked at this picture I thought.

"He is buying a custom razor and the first thing he is doing is making a shorty out of it?????"

Then I realized it is the wedge!

Rinsed and did another soak while I was at work. Looks good! Only took a few.....dozen washes.

    Thanks Tom!

    Ruby razor??
If you're talking the one that Bruno just posted with the rubies in the tail.... it's not mine.
The one I have coming in the future has saphires and diamonds too

I'm not modifying anything right now, I just think they are really cool and will certainly use them on future projects.
