Thank you, I had forgot the name of that bit.
I have a drill press at work.
Looking at those pics you just posted, I noticed that I did them just a little off.
Next time I'll look at the pics before I do it.
Also, I think I need a big magnifying glass. My eyes don't seem to work as good as I need them to.
Edit: also I see that the front one is smaller.. I'll need to grind it down a little.Last edited by MikeT; 05-19-2019 at 01:43 AM.

That gets me every time!
Okay, I had forgot about that contraption..
I assume this is better than a magnifying glass in a swing arm?
Where is the cheapest place to get one.

Mine is from harbor freight. I took every thing off of it but 1 lens.
5 bucks?
I need 5 laying around, I swear. Always looking for it. Call it my eyeballs!

I got the Facia board cut and painted for the patio. Then we got rain. So I made a trip to the hardware store to price out what I was going to need for the Gutter job. Mowed the yards, worked on the sprinklers, made a grocery run, Changed the oil in two cars. Then took a nap.
I then decided to see about fixing a couple of blades from the junk pile. One was ground down about 1/8+ inch about a third of the way along the edge at the toe. Put some time on the DMT and reshaped it. It still needs a little more work but its savable now...
Then I took out one that had some serious hone wear. Worked on just one side of it until most of the hone wear is gone. Cleaned and polished that side so I could get a good look at it. Here are both sides. You can see the wear on the other side was bad!
Just some hand sanding and tape put in strategic spots blend it in. I make sure that when doing this the spine thickness gets evened out so the bevel goes well when the time comes. It's just Sharpening, right?

I was sitting on the back steps looking at the ice skimmer/minnow scoop that my son had been using and was laying around.
I was going to throw it away but thought hey I can fix that. I had some stainless steel lashing wire and decided I would give it a go.
Not pretty but hey a new one would cost over $5 USD. I spent about 1/2 hour so I figure I saved about $10 per hour for my time....
