After many delays I have my grinder running.

Beautiful grinding setup, Shaun-I just came in from a session flattening those bone scales on my 2x42" flat-bed that I mostly use for flattening and thicknessing. Per your advice, I'm mostly through those marrow pockets, and still have quite a bit of thickness to play with. It looks like I should be all the way flat at about .10."

At that point, I think I'll flip them around, glue them back up, cut to shape, and get my final thickness down close to your recommended .080 or so from the outside so that I can start shaping, contouring and polishing.

When I get a minute, I'll post pics of the seriously problematic tang issue I've got on the otherwise near-perfect blade that will be housed in these scales. I've got a couple of ideas, but they're probably wrong. Maybe later this weekend.

Nice grinder Shaun. Looks like it will do the job like a pro.

I like my scales to be around .080 also. Nice job on thinning them out. I bet you are going to like the way they turn out at that thickness.

I put this brush together this morning. Just had to glue it up. 30mm knot, 55mm loft, 5 inches tall and weighs in at 14 oz. I will give it a go with tomorrows shave.

30 mm knots are giants. I have a couple and I use them mostly to bowl lathering. That is a very shiny handle. Happy lathering.

I’m suppose to be hanging a door, but I am working on the scales for my Herder 49
I am debating if I am going to die these or if I am going to polish them and go natural.

I vote on dye Shaun. Looks too vanilla to me right now. JMO.

The handle on the brush came as a gift from one of our great members in Austria. Very nice of him to send it to me. Brass and Stainless Steel. I guess it was part of a shave display somewhere in his area. Im looking forward to giving it a spin tomorrow.

Got my swirly Geneva apart with no drama. The pin with collars had three stacked. On the opposite side, the "collars" were part of the pin. While I've seen this on this forum, I haven't encountered it and didn't know Geneva was using this type of pin. Now I know...

The scales cleaned up really easy and nice. The inside of one scale has an arced groove, just past where the stabilizer would be when closed. Not sure if this is something I should leave or fill with CA? Advice would be appreciated.

The blade is coming along. Thinking of trying a satin type finish on the blade. Used my new magnetic blade holder, really makes it easier to work on the blades.

Rezdog: Nice new grinder! Love the pattern on those scales. I think a dark wash into the low spots with the high wiped clear would look good, but either way it will look great!

    Scouthikerdad: Bone's looking good!

Gasman: Really like the look of the brush. Hope it works well for you.

Got a bunch of projects moved forward, two I'll post when I'm done, and got some wood broken down for handles. Sorry, if this post is a bit shotgun, I'm in a fired up mood tonight. Had a Dr. appt. today for a skin thing. Turns out it's not anything to worry about for now. Guess it had been weighing on me more than I thought.

Oh...was jabbering so much I almost forgot my Geneva pics. You can just make out the grooved ark on the top scale in the left pic. It's at the right side of the widest green line from the left in the under towel (I hope that makes sense). If it needs to be clearer I'll take another pic.
