Yeah, plus 1 on the Romanian seller! I've ordered and received great products from him many times, always satisfied. As Roy says, they come in a plain envelope from Romania with exotic stamps and lettering, usually weeks after you've forgotten you ordered them lol, which is always a nice surprise. His brass collars are solid and top notch. Most of the razors I have posted this year wear his brass or steel collars, in large or small depending on the aesthetics of each razor/scale combo. And those brass temporary fasteners are great for mockups as Jerry demos.

By the way, Jerry-Is it TruOil time again for those wooden scales? I've got many sets of wood blanks. It's been too long-maybe I'll do some over Christmas break.
There are many roads to sharp.

Yep. Thats the plan Aaron. Maybe in a couple weeks i will have them ready. Still got to finish sanding first. Im training a new guy at work so i figure i can watch him work and sand scales at the same time.
    It's just Sharpening, right?

Here's one of my Reynolds humpback rattlers.

It has a significant amount of pitting forward on top of the spine and then a good amount lower and forward on the toe.

Usually I'll start off with the buffer and allow it to do some of the heavy lifting in the beginning, but the pitting at the toe is already at such a thin spot in the blade that I'll only trust hand sanding there.

I'm finally getting to the point that I can remove scales with my dremel and a tiny hacksaw without leaving a mark. I haven't been able to save any collars yet, though.

Hopefully these scales will shine up with a bit of sanding. They aren't in bad shape overall.

Scales look good. Set the bevel before you get very far.

The blade turned out nice compared to where it was earlier. There's some pitting left over in various spots, I never seem to want to take off much metal to totally get rid of the pits. They are smoothed over and that's good enough for me.

I'll see about the scales tomorrow.

Looking good, can't wait to see it finished.

Should come together real nice, Sonny.
Stick with 600 grt. W/D paper, just enough sanding to get through the old dry stuff. Then steel wool, and give um a good long soak in Neatsfoot.. Might loose or lighten some of the patterns.

Interesting how similar yours looked compared to how mine are now. Yours turned out great.

I've got a whole progression of w/d grits and I have some neatsfoot. I think I also stocked away some steel wool at some point. What kind are you using?

Edit: found my bag of steel wool. It is the 0000 variety.
