While I'm glad that the polished dome washers I sent you some time ago have worked. I hope that in the future you can somehow smooth the 'Aw Crap' on the scales pivot up and go with those replacement collars that Austin carries at FleBay**. That would bring the razor back to where it looked originally. However with that said; 'Ya gotta do what ya gotta do'.

Well I finally found enough time to finish the Reaper blade.
Nothing too fancy. Progression up to 2k with Flitz finish. Could get it better but had to just say okay.
Now I'll be waiting for the wood.
In the meantime I am starting on this 8/8 W&B shorty. The blade is a simple enough job.
The scales I'm gonna try to take a piece of what I cut off, and fit in in just right to match the grain as perfect as possible because I don't want to dye the scales.
I want to dig the grain out just a tad to highlight the "weathered" look. So hopefully have that vintage weathered look with the color and grain of the horn.

Thanked: 315I see someone has an ultra rare double barber notch razor lol. Seriously though, that is a shame. Fortunately it is right on the tip.
I messaged a seller about an error in their description of a razor with a similar chip and they were pretty sure it was made that way since it was so smooth and there was no cracks.- Joshua

It is possible to keep the full length by turning it into a smiler.
But I would lose width. I'm going to draw some lines on it with a marker to see what it would look like both ways. Take some pictures and compare.
I'll see if I can do that, got the kids tonight so I'll be starting dinner soon.“You must unlearn what you have learned.”

Keeping it full length would keep the etching centered.

Got today and the next off work. Have to be a Witness for the City. Long story but I don't want to go. So today I sorted thru the razors I got from Josh. Pulled 4 sets of bones scales off. Cleaned them up then dropped in a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide.
Then I started on this Broken Tipped razor that wasn't going to need a lot of work.

Fixed the tip, worked over the stabilizer as it was too close to the edge. Cleaned up the scales and repinned. Here is before and after...
The tip came out so clean you can't tell I cut it off. Not much shorter but it is. 2" Cutting edge. Not sure this meets the standards for the "shorty" name.Last edited by Gasman; 01-25-2019 at 02:18 AM.
It's just Sharpening, right?

Regular of Super?
While regular drug/grocery store hydrogen peroxide will work, the stuff they sell for cosmetologists is much stronger and works a lot faster. Just saying.
There is also some Really Strong Stuff that you can buy but it's real spendy. Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.
