A conversation piece. Something you yarn about.
Seriously though, you hold yarn in it while knitting.

Yup, exactly. Pull the yarn through the hole, and while they knit or crochet the ball tumbles and stays in one spot. The best design would be for the bowl to taper closed again at the top, but this is the style she had wanted. Most are made from pottery. The more beautiful are made from wood..........IMO

Haha! I know what Pixel is going to be making! Pretty easy to make. If you can turn a bowl, you can make one of these. Used a coping saw for the slot, maybe for the next one I'll give the jigsaw a try. It burned me up a bit to cut that slot in such a nice bowl but..... had to be done.

I went that way because I like the tracking set up but may pay the price in trying to get it all aligned. The other part of this plan ( to come later) is water cooling. The cast housing should help contain the h2o. I am thinking water recovery and pump system for the end plan.

So... Will you mind terribly if I bring some razors up to visit? I've got some that desperately need regrinding, and I gotta start somewhere!

Well I got it spinning today. Give me a week to make sure it stays running true and then come on up. I only have an 8" contact wheel but will be getting more soon now that it's running. PM coming.

That is a great answer to longer belt life without a huge cost! Thanks for the ideas!
