Here is an update of the progress on my first straight that I have been making. Got the scales done and pinned the wedge. Still got to do some finish work on the blade and pin the blade into the handle and then I am going to ship it off to Doc226 for a proper honing.

Now that is looking like a serious razor. Looks great. How big is it and what wood are you using?

That would be 1.2842. It is very similar to O1. It only has a bit more carbon and a bit more Chromium. It is essentially the same as O1, but is a bit more stain resistant. Definitely not stainless, but during grinding / honing a lot less likely to discolor.

The bade is 3" long and it should measure 8/8. I am pretty sure this razor's size I will have to grow into as my shaving skills increase. As for the wood, I can't remember the name, it has a reddish purple tone and I have it from an assortment of wood that I have used for knife handles over the past few years. Thanks for compliments, I hope it shaves well in the end.

My progress on my 2x72 NWGS. Should get the rest of the parts in Tuesday. Waiting for my motor, VFD, contact wheels, as well as drive and tracking wheels.... Now to wire up a 220V breaker and outlet while I'm waiting. ..

That is looking very good indeed. Nice built, what type of motor are you going to use on it?

Dang that hurts. It's not like your driving that tailstock with a lot of pressure into the wood - what do you think is the culprit? Just bad luck on this one?
