Well, the ebony I am used to is a lot less impressive than plain oak in the strength department.
In fact, just recently I was looking at a handcrafted Japanese bokken (wooden practise sword) which was made from ebony.
List price about 1500$. According to the warning, it was not suitable for actual use as a practise sword because it would have a high risk of breaking upon impact.
I'm not denying it's beauty or hardness. But from my limited experience there is a whole range of woods that are stronger.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Thanked: 1072As far as razors go, I'm working on this ERN Ator.
The photo is how it looked when I found it, right now I'm up to 600 grit hand sanding so it shouldn't be too long before its finished.
I do have to make new scales for it though.
These knives are my first attempt at making conventional type knives. Almost finished, just have to hone them and make sheaths.

I'm working on putting my workshop back together
Bought a new belt sander because the old one caught on fire, but when I was going to put it up I wasn't quite happy with the layout of the shop, so I tore down almost everything and started to put everything back together.
Got the new workbench up, and mounted the sander and buffers today.
It's bloody mess right now, but it should back in order in a couple days
Need help or tutoring? Check out the .
