After days of soaking and scrubbin in degreaser, lacquer thinner, ect., I have another Washita.
Not as dense or translucent as my butterscotch Washita, but looks near identical, under magnification.

Now to fund some loose grit for lapping, and a chisle for burnishing.
Nice work, Mike-I didn't know Washitas could be translucent.
In other news, I may have spoken too soon re not wanting to get into turning. My wife, who is very handy and creative, now wants for us to get a lathe, take the class at Woodcraft together, and start cranking out stuff. Shaving brushes for me, duck calls for my son, maybe bowls and rolling pins for my wife-the possibilities seem endless. Having done a good bit of research, I am considering the Jet JWL1221VS. I am pretty certain that if I got a mini-lathe, I would just want to upgrade immediately to something more capable. We'll see-I'll let you know if we jump off this cliff. I'll probably be begging for help too from you turning guys.
I can just see.you standing there at the lathe singing that Byrds song Turn Turn Turn

Yeah, the butterscotch Washita is a impressive stone, fo sho. Really curious to what this one is capable of doing.
Which happens to be one of my favorite songs lol! It also turns out that investing in the lathe is just the beginning. As neither of us do anything halfway, I can envision us dropping quite a bit more on tools and accessories. That said, I've already cleared a space in the shop for it.
Congrads Aaron. I wish my wife was into turning. Im still dabbling with it. I have soms tools coming in the mail today. Still going to be using my drill press for now. I seen the Jet Lathes. Your going all in bro. Nice choice.
'IF' it come down to having to share and by using the Even and Odd days as to who gets which day--It seems that YOU need to grab the ODD Days.
Found this online:
187 Odd days and 178 even days, except for Leap Year were there are 179 even days.
But many holidays are on odd days such as new years, Christmas and, thanksgiving.
Of course the 4th is on an even day!:hmmm:
