After days of soaking and scrubbin in degreaser, lacquer thinner, ect., I have another Washita.
Not as dense or translucent as my butterscotch Washita, but looks near identical, under magnification.

Now to fund some loose grit for lapping, and a chisle for burnishing.
Nice work, Mike-I didn't know Washitas could be translucent.
In other news, I may have spoken too soon re not wanting to get into turning. My wife, who is very handy and creative, now wants for us to get a lathe, take the class at Woodcraft together, and start cranking out stuff. Shaving brushes for me, duck calls for my son, maybe bowls and rolling pins for my wife-the possibilities seem endless. Having done a good bit of research, I am considering the Jet JWL1221VS. I am pretty certain that if I got a mini-lathe, I would just want to upgrade immediately to something more capable. We'll see-I'll let you know if we jump off this cliff. I'll probably be begging for help too from you turning guys.

Yeah, the butterscotch Washita is a impressive stone, fo sho. Really curious to what this one is capable of doing.
Which happens to be one of my favorite songs lol! It also turns out that investing in the lathe is just the beginning. As neither of us do anything halfway, I can envision us dropping quite a bit more on tools and accessories. That said, I've already cleared a space in the shop for it.Quote:
