It does shave, quite well as it turns out...I just wanted to try and rehone for funzies. And yes, the bevel is all kinds of screwy, I think?

Samuel Creswick. The mark was a mystery to me until I saw this post from voidmonster. I'm thinking the son maybe in the 40s or 50s?

I'm a little sad it was cleaned up so shiny though ☹️

Well, while I usually use a badger hair brush I do once in awhile prefer a boars hair. I had a small one that was just about thread bare so I ordered a 20 mm from FleaBay, it included shipping (nothings actually free) for $8.00 plus the tax.

I'd made a simple little jig to hold the handle while I drilled it out.

I don't have any pics of the previous brush before taking it out. However here's the new brush in the holder.

And the new brush glued in. Now to just wait till it's dried to wash it so it's not got that wet dog smell. It might even bloom a bit.

The loft looks just about right to me. I think i have one blue one of those and two reds. They hold small knots.

Well I think it's right---I'll see if it'll bloom out a bit more tomorrow. That'll give the glue plenty of time to set.

I understand where your coming from. Not all blades need to look like new, again. But sometimes you find one worth the effort.

I think your right about the scales being still on it, or he was afraid he'd mess up the angles.

I've had to do a bit of grinding at the heel and show side stabilizer/shoulder. It never got thinned out, and kept the heel off the stone.

Well, the solid color ones anyway.

I have a red "BLACKJACK" razor I would definitely want to be translucent red scales on like the original. Kirinite Pearl on Ducks.

Does anyone sell blanks closer to original scale thickness than 1/8 inch?
