Lotsa digging out old undercoating and prep. Lots of different abrasive things and some weld-through primer at the ready.
Got my welder set up with .024 wire and new tip, holder, shroud setup. Figure to do what I can on the boxes with it in the air and down level on some stands for the connectors. Then all the way down for carpet/seats out and back up to tie into the floor.
I will also do some simple gussets and boxing here and there.
Might stiffen this twisty, rattly thing up. Gonna take forever I suppose..

I know. A shop like that is my dream. I sold a 1963 Buick Riviera that still ran and drove because it needed a frame off restoration and I didn't have the place to do it properly or the heart to see it not get the treatment it deserved.

They are a blessing and a curse! You can stand under an old car and see things you may not want to.
These old unibody cars all need some help after time, the elements, and the drag strip have taken their toll.

This lift is back in the corner for projects that linger. I have 2 more for customer's cars. Wish I had a drive-on lift for some service.
Getting on and off your knees for each corner gets tougher as I get older!

So I got the left front done. Typically, I do well with the down welds and crappy on the upside down ones.
Downright brilliant in the weld-up dept.
I have decided I am too wobbly to freehand so I will set up a pole jack under the car to see if I can steady my welding hand on the right side, which has fit almost perfectly as delivered. A good thing!

Out of welding gas so will likely continue next week. LF turned out good and solid, however. Didn't weld to the floor. Carpet and seats out next chapter to do that.

Decided these seat brackets from the inner rocker panels will be a perfect socket for some 2 inch square tube To the subframe connectors 11 some inches away. If I get angle right, I can weld tube to the bracket and to the inner rocker as well. Thank goodness the inner rockers are quite solid.. This should really stiffen things up!
Old 5/16 fuel line and 1/4 return will be extricated and a single 3/8 line installed from the tank to the fuel pump hose.
    Let's burn some gas...Yeah!
