Okay, case in point. See how Roy's are all a little different in shape? I think, and I emphasize "think," that each blank might have come out of the forge a little different and or each grinder did it a little differently and or each grind was a little different even for the same grinder and or someone along the process had a "whoops" and the manufacture was different from there out. If you look at the notch from the toe end you will see that they were often not straight or symmetrical. They were all handmade and therefore all individuals. That's actually a good thing. Yours looks fine and will probably be fabulous with the right attention.

Wow, those are great examples. I want to fix this one up, but I'm definitely going to keep looking for one with the original blade shape in good condition. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Yours is not bad Joshua. I'd be proud of it if it was mine. I've seen a lot in horrible shape and people still want a lot for them.

Damn Roy that's nice to have 3. I will own one someday.

We don't know that is not the original blade shape but I think know what you mean. Really, the classic blade shape but that is a classic blade shape. We just get a programmed expectation of certain blades. If it made it to market with that trade name and it has a straight narrow bevel and shaves well I wouldn't get too hung up on it. It's a nice blade and still a classic.

Of course if you don't want it then I will help you out.

I couldn't have spent more that 5 minutes on each just as an initial clean up... maybe 10 on the FBU since I polished up the collars also.
    Here's the after

Great start. I prefer to unpin the pivots to get in and clean. But you know best as what needs done. Remember some thooth floss gets in there close enough if your not unpinning.
