Working on a 67 Big Block 4 Speed Camaro. Guy hit a deer last fall. Been massaging this AMD sheet metal and trying to make it fit....it’s getting there with a mig welder and an air saw.

Is the black or blue original?

If I start with that it it keeps me from grinding away on the heel trying to remove metal because it’s thicker. All in all it is in serviceable condition which is way better than where it started. Good job.
So, thanks Shaun. Yeah I agree. Although this is not my first reshape exactly It is the most radical one I've done. I've worked out other chips and reshaped broken square points into round points and of course heel reshapes but this is the most I have taken down the entire width. I really think that I was so busy trying to keep the width as wide as possible while still working out the chip and reshaping the heel that I kind of overlooked the belly.
I spent a bunch more than I wanted to on this and I really, REALLY wanted one of them...but not just "one" of them, a badass one of them so I have been stewing on it. I decided to continue the reshape. Remember I said it was an initial reshape . I set up my belt grinder with a narrow width stop to follow the shape of the spine and using the width of the toe.

And this is what I came up with.

It's a subtle difference but it matches the curve of the spine and it looks more right to me.

Paul, that has a lovely smile and a really nice thin bevel.

You’ve retained plenty of blade width.

    Looks good to me.

Thank you kind sir. I've been trying to be cautious about how I proceed. I'd hate to be hasty then fall on remorse but I too was pleased with it.
I did another test bevel set after that shape adjustment and it sits.more evenly on the hone now. Before I had to do a rocking stroke to get all the bevel in contact with the hone but now it doesn't require it really. Just a hair at the heel.
