My real concern with them is durability. I bought a razor stand on eBay, a little black disc with a square on top and a smaller rectangle sticking up to go between the scales. I won't mention the seller but it is a guy who also sells razors posed on top of a cigar box. Anyway, the first time I tried to use it the part that goes between the scales snapped off. I contacted the guy and said I wanted to return it because where the part was glued on came loose. His response was that it was not glued but it clearly appeared glued which I told him. His response was that it was 3D printed which makes sense. I guess we'll see how it works out with ones my son can make.

I have only been exposed to a couple of 3D printed things but although I thought that they were good prototypes the main problem was durability.

Getting extremely bored so I took a few razors out of the to-do cup. A bit of scraping, sanding, and a lot of polishing and scales straightening got these two back together without too much work. I think it took about 4 hours time...

    C. Friedr Ern #170 full hollow. This one had some active rust in the pivot area and jimps.

Robeson Shuredge #1595. Full Hollow. This one had pitting and rust on the blade faces and a little devil spit on the tang. The pivot looked clean so I cleaned it up and worked on the blade faces until it looked good enough. The fancy scales are very rough looking so I wasn't able to pretty them up any more than they were. Just cleaned them.

Sorry for not having any before pics. They didn't look really bad and I was just happy to be doing something. LOL

This one I might start on next. Best Silver Steel, Solingen. A very small blade with scratches, clean scales but someone used a screw to peen the pivot end together at one time. Hoping the hole isn't too wallered out. A bit of hone wear too but I think this should turn out nice when I get going on it. See, before pics. I didn't forget this time.

This was not actually a full restore. It was just a clean and polish. There were a couple of spot but mainly it was removing the remnants of the gold plating.

Now to home them all up and send them back to their home.

Edit: oh yeah, I went back with collarless pins on this one. That's how it came so I went back with the original method.

Best Solingen Silver Steel is finished.
Unpinned, Cleaned, Sanded, Polished, and put back together. I had to use bushing (Thanks to Shaun as he sent me some a few years back) for the collars to fill the large holes in the scales. And it was just enough. I think one is smashed into the scale after the pinning.

I would call it a 3/8+ as after I get done honing it's sure to lose a little more width as it is like a butter knife right now.
Another small razor in my collection.

Took this Boker apart. Saved the collars. Then scrapped off all the big ugly stuff. Here it is scrapped...

Then I cleaned and polished the scales. Not too big of a deal as they cleaned right up. Started sanding and polishing the blade by hand. I went with a satin finish on the blade faces, and I was able to remove most of the devil spit. But on the backside by the spine, it just wasn't going to come off. I let it be as I didn't want to mess up the blade's geometry. Jimps top and bottom came out clean along with the pivot.

Pinned up with original collars, add washers inside, and ready for the stones. I have a good feeling about this one so I hadn't tested the bevel or fixed the chip yet. My hands are complaining big time but I had fun cleaning this one up. 3 hours into it is not too bad.

I got a Robeson in the mail today. It's going to go into the to-do cup for now. But I will post a picture. The scales are a little different from any other Shuredge razors I have.

Nice work on that one Jerry. Can't wait to see that Robeson when it's done.

Still snowing a bit outside but I went out and cut down the worst of the breaks in the tree limbs and gathered them up. Tomorrow the WX will be more friendly for being outside and doing a proper clean-up of the yard. Heavy wet snow is so bad on trees.

In the meantime, I decided to get a start on this little razor. It doesn't need much as the rust is mainly on the tang and tail. Very icky inside the pivot so step one was unpinning. I saved the collars again even though they are basic. I found 3 washers inside but they are so thin I bet it was just a mistake. Couldn't have made much difference.

If anyone has any clues about the stamps on this one I'd be interested in hearing about it.
Guessing it's American as there is no country stamp. Nothing on the back side but on the tip of the tail is the number 102.
