Your not alone Dave. My wife refuses to use Steel too. And I get yelled at when the knives are not as sharp as they can be. If I hadn't have bought her real knives and spent the time sharpening them up to top-quality edges, she would never have known better. Guess it's my fault!

A A Ron, I have always learn the most from what hit the garbage can. It can also be interesting to see what you can recover from a learning experience. It looks like what you have there is the makings af a shallow dish. Like the kind that has keys in it near the entry, or small parts in the shop. I’m inspired by your learning pieces as well as your successes.

My bride is the same, hard on knives. Says, “What’s the point of having Mr. Sharpener-Pants in the house and millions of stones? Sharpen them!

So, I bought her 2 matching Shun, 6” Santoku Premier’s and matching 6.5” Nakiri, hammer finished in patterned VG10, and matching dark brown Pakkawood handles. She likes the weight and balance of the short blade and mostly cuts vegies, so the straight blades work well for her. Bottom line, she always has a sharp knife at hand.

When the stones are out, all 3 get a quick honing on Diamonds and Washita finish. It was a bit pricy, but I got them at a smoking sale at William Sonoma.

I know your pain. It is our fault no matter what.

I have several Bruno kitchen knives. They are scary sharp and only I use them.

I have a wonderful Wusthoff chef knife that SWMBO continues to put in the dishwasher. That’s why I always check before it gets turned on.

I put a nice sharp edge on it finished on my coticule and then cringed as she used it like a pairing knife to cut an apple in her hand.

First aid kit is right where I need it.

Todays bowl recovery. Its not as deap as I wanted but I think it turned out prety damn nice for my first bowl. I got scared and went with less than 1/2" thick. Wanted to get it closer to under 1/4" but... My record for damaging wasnt on my side. All in all Im happy and so is SWMBO. When you turn it the color changes. Like a Cats eyes. Very cool.

Last week I glued some wood strips together so I could try to turn a new brush handle. I made a nice one for a boar knot plus have enough to do another brush if I want.
