Got the scales off the old razor next on the list. Cleaned them up and polished. Next will be cleaning the scratches on the lead wedge then some buffer time on the blade.
i think its going to make a nice adition to the collection.
More later.It's just Sharpening, right?

Mocked up for pinning. Think I need to work on the wedge a bit more but its coming along nicely. Took the finish on the blade farther than I wanted too. Just got carried away.
Boy what I piece of junk! OK, Maybe not. I cant wait to get to honing and give it a shave.Last edited by Gasman; 04-11-2017 at 11:05 PM.

Just finished up this George Butler. It was in fair condition to start with so I though it would be a quick project. I was wrong! It was very far from centering, so I flattened the horn scales. Still way off. There was a pretty big warp in the tang so I did some sanding on the inside of the pivot area of the scales. After lots of adjustments and test fittings, I was happy. Then on to sanding and polishing both scales and blade. I used cold blue on the etching and stamps and polished with Mass on waxed paper. This was inspired by Geezers trick with cold blue and lapping film. It came out pretty nice. Then another test fitting. Perfect. Pinned the wedge and test fit the pivot. Perfect. Pinned the pivot. Not perfect. Both pins seemed straight but it was way off center again. After some wiggling and fancy peening it finally centers as it should.

Nice job BeJay, that looks great with the bluing, nice method. Sometimes it's the innocent-looking ones that turn out to be the most work! Cool razor, worth the effort.
Also, very nice job on the Joseph Rodgers, Gasman! That will be a terrific shaver I should think.Last edited by xiaotuzi; 04-12-2017 at 12:26 AM.
