I get them at Sally Beauty Supply or Publix Supermarket. It's the 4 sided ones. I'll take a look and try to find a name at least or a link.

So here's one link to the retailer I buy them from. There are other retailers and other brands but these are good, long and they're cheap at Publix. I think I liked the ones from Sally better but these are longer.
The Manufacturer doesnt have mych information on their site. But the product code is 4 way buffer #20419

Yes. Horns and hooves are basically big fingernails. At least they are made of the same thing.
Omega 48 handle is a full fist grip type and although comfortable, just too damn big. Loft is stated to be 70mm, mine read 66mm, I reset to 65.

Nice wood. Looks good. That 48 is a big brush all the way around. I have it and the black handled one. I hope shortening it doesn't make it stiffer. I know you said once you had before we're too stiff for your liking. It's a lot of bristle but all that loft softens it out.
Looks really good though, whatever the case.
Oh they are stiff hairs compared to Badger!!
I tried it after break in and it was ok. It actually feels better dry on the face, closer to a badger in feel but when wet its always a little prickly.
I actually reset to 65 not 63. I will change that.
The loft certainly helps. Its just the nature of the hair I think.
I don't think it will ever compete with my quality badgers in any meaningful way but I'm going to keep trying to soften it for a bit and see.
It does seem like it is not splayed as much as before when dry but its just a mm shorter and the hole is a tight fit. I will put it in a SOTD when it gets a few more treatments in the new handle.
At least I can hang it where the rest reside when drying.
Once the tips of the bristles start to split it feel less prickly. For me badger is a little soft but differences of preference are what makes the world more interesting.
I thought the splitting was supposed to lessen the prickliness! I thought the prickliness was just the hairs that have not split yet.
When dry it feels great on the face mimicking a lather, really surprisingly good. Only when wet its prickly, at least for now.
I'm determined to give it a fair shake till it's as soft as its going to get. It may get set aside eventually or gifted to someone. We'll see.
Are u soaking it, beforehand? I always soak mine in a cup of hot tap water, while I'm showering. Just the first third of the
knot.
