Yeah I was surprised how thin it was, when I first opened it in the antique shop.

Finished my strop today and happy with the results for my first one. I think I'll tackle a couple more with the cheaper bridle leather before tackling a one in cordovan.

I've thought about doing that. I have a tool that cuts the pieces perfectly straight.

I tallied last night I have 4 one of which is in what looks like a fake croc skin sleeve, with a pocket for a spare blade.

Will dig it out and get a pic for you. Case needs a little repair, but would be great for travel.

After blueing, oiling, and letting it sit overnight, the colors have mellowed and blended nicely.Name: uploadfromtaptalk1456671409488.jpg

But it was my only way I could do it, and make sure it was going to be flat on the stone again, when honing. Can't wait to hone it up and give it a go later.
Refacing it on the stones? Is there any concavity left to it, outback?

    A 'true' wedge?

That is going to take another few days I think, Brother. It's one big bevel!

Rest assured it had a degree of concavity as-new.
Old wedges did. Otherwise, the entire blade's face would have to be honed, sitting flat.

3 layers of tape, at least?
