    The wood is called Wenge. I got the blank off an ebay vendor by the name of Rastamanwood.

    Pinning up the Weck, bottom is all set up;

    As the bottom is pinned, I checked the wedge clearance. The holy hacksaw blade provided a bit more.
    They don't get much tighter than this!
