    -Hi
I worked at a foundry for a short while.
THe furnace(about 15 ton cap) has carbon electrodes of around 6" diameter and 6-8 feet long to apply the heat to cast iron.
I imagine the speciality steel companies would use the same system for heat

When electricity was new it was the latest and greatest and not the hum drum thing it is now a days.

It is my understanding that the Carbo Magnetic razors were tempered/heat treated using electricity and the magnetic result was a byproduct.

    Hi
I thought the magnetic was an advertising gimmick.

I started refering to the Electric Razor and included the Carbo Magnetic as an example.....

I think it all boils down to advertising whether they are pulling your leg or have something to back it up.

Yep! The electricity stands the hairs up and the natural iron in the hairs draws them to the edge.
    How it works, eh? EH?
