No, I set the bevel on the side of my King 1k because it's roughly 1" wide. Then I use a 1 inch coticule, just like anyone else would, to finish it.

Ask Jonathan what he thinks of this method. I sent him a Fredericks celebrated that I honed just like this, he didn't complain about the edge.
Great edge. I was not looking forward to keeping it sharp. I was going to send it back to you for honing.
Then some guy saw my picture of it and made me an offer I couldnt refuse. The shave rack. Then paid me to fix his pipe razor.
I wasnt going to mention it till I met you in person, but now its out there, and I owe you. Great shaver. wicked bend.

Makes you wonder how those wonky things made it out of the factory. Betcha an Englishman or a German would never accept it.

They dumped all the reject/defects on us poor colonials!

    I rest my case.

So I go looking at the Bokers..... By your definition of bend , its there for sure, subtle but.... I got 6 bent Bokers of a 7 day set. I refuse to start hunting that blade again to make a 7 day bent set. The stuff I learn hanging out with you guys. Andrews Fredrick bend had to be 20 degrees, it looked like a dog leg left on the golf course. The Challenge well . It doesnt look as dramatic but I will let Andrew make that call. Just call me 6 day bender.

I just finished taking the outside of a childproof cap off of a bottle of Tru-Oil as this 62+ year old child had trouble opening it.

That bottle top is a beast. Tip if you dont use the whole bottle. Squeeze it to bring fluid to the neck, then reapply cap. Otherwise it will turn into rock inside of a year. Mineral Spirits the threads before putting on cap. Serious downward pressure before turning to reopen. Dont ask how I know. That is as close to cutting my fingers as I have ever come.
Tru oil is the best finish I have used, Getting to it is a limb risk.

Glad you two brought this up.!!
Damn near couldn't get the cap off mine. The excess oil hardens in the threads, so I'm cleaning the threads on my bottle now before its too late.

That bottle top is no longer a Beast, it's now a neutered little kitten. However thanks for the tips. This bottle is about 1/2 full (had an Aw Crap) and I'm thinking of adding some mineral spirits to it and use it for top coating.

This is only the second time I've ever used it and so far I'm impressed. I found several videos by Luthier's who recommended to ignore the instructions from the manufacturer and apply a heavy 1st coat and really work it in. That way it goes deep and the other layers start the buildup.

The first set was just lumberyard oak these are some Spalted Maple. I'm sure the Big Dogs will be chewing this little pup about my choice and method but it's my choice.

They'd be no more than ankle biters... If they'd try it.
My #1 choice for all non oily woods.
Looking forward to your end results.

Tru-oil is the choice for custom gun stocks world over. Beats straight tung oil or anything else.
Talking trash about Tru-Oil is right next to talking trash about Renaissance Wax, WD40, Tuf glide.
All are staples, The professionals in blades, guns and general masters swear by all the above.
