I think you are going to be in for a treat when you open it. Mine has a very good bay/allspice scent with just a hint of citrus.:D

Be rest assured I'm using the right bay leaf. Even a fresh roast would smell better than what my late Father used to say I smelled like............."Kid, you smell worse than a boar hog in a peach orchard.":rofl2:

That one began life as a wedge, Bejay, by the FBU being upon the tang. It was reground at some point to a thinner blade.
Should be a winner with the chip honed-out and a proper bevel set. Love old regrinds! :tu

From the scent from when I did open the jar, I was pleased. Now as far as the citrus scent, I'll wait but I'm wondering how either Orange or Lemon 'zest' would work instead of the oil. Just a thought :shrug:

I have noticed that the mixture is slowly darkening. Has your batch done the same? Just wondering. :thinking:

My jar is getting about as dark as my buddy's spit bottle.

I thought of using zest too but using lime zest instead. I've always been a sucker for anything that tastes or smells like lime. My Bay Rum is about the color of lightly brewed tea.

Like a good whiskey.. Only time makes it better.
Its nice so many are brewing, so we can hear about how well someone's lasted thru the day, being the slight differences between batches.

The citrus bay rum that Cheferik brewed for me lasts half the day. But anytime you heat up, the bay leaf, and allspice, will waif into your nose.
