    Nice razor Phrank.
Matt that three layer set of scales, that's taking it to the next level. They are pretty nice my friend.

I completely understand why you called your Heiffor, "The Brick"...it is a massively heavy blade, was covered in gunk, but came clean with good scrub with a toothbrush and toothpaste, light sanding, and it's looking pretty clean...grabbed it from a local listing in Ontario...

Funny, I was thinking the etching appeared almost like a bird in flight but could be Gaelic as mentioned in the linked thread...and what a great thread you linked to...seeing some great posts from Neil....

Yeah, they are pretty rough and simple. Heavy wedge for Army issue.
Heiffor made some intricate and beautiful stuff.

Agreed - when it say's, "Made for the Army" they meant it.

Those Heiffor's you had in the other thread were sublime how nice they are, he really made some top notch razors, incredible craftsmanship.

So this Army razor was from around 1850 or earlier was the thinking?

Going by Neil's words, I expect they are.

Still have that pretty pair. Have never been honed since new.
    Gonna bust them out someday!
